The San Antonio Firearms Training Basic Pistol Course is a 4 hour course designed to familiarize you with the correct operation and maintenance of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers, along with teaching you how to handle and shoot them safely in a comfortable environment. We teach this class on a small private range. This allows for a comfortable and quiet environment which helps to keep the new shooter relaxed and makes the class more enjoyable for both the students and the instructors.
This course is perfect for the new handgun owner and serves as an introductory skills course for other more advanced defensive or competitive handgun courses. The ultimate goal of the Basic Pistol course is to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Any person who is not legally disqualified from possessing a handgun in the U.S. can attend this class. All persons of less than 21 years of age may only take this course with their parent or with an adult guardian.
This 4 hour course combines lecture and live fire range time. Depending on the class size and ability, the instructors may adjust lesson time to assure sufficient repetitions to develop skills.
Please do not hesitate to call with ANY questions. We know that learning to shoot can be intimidating and we want you to be as comfortable as possible.
Male and Female instructors are available to teach this class.

My 15yr old son has been very interested in law enforcement for years. With that comes a growing interest in guns. We are not a gun family. We wanted him to have a controlled solid & safe introduction to guns. Afer talking with Chris a couple of times, he suggested a weekday class with just my son and me. We got this Basic Handgun Class as part of his Christmas. (We have never seen a happier kid when he opened the gift to find a box of ammo and the class registration) Chris put us at ease and spent time walking us step by step through everything from getting to know the weapon (holding a gun for the first time), to safety measures and precautions. We never felt intimidated. We could ask him anything and he took his time answering our questions and applying them to real life scenarios. We spent time firing at targets with different goals/objectives from different distances. He had tips & techniques that would give us instant results. He ALWAYS kept safety at the forefront of our day. I just can't say enough good things about this class! My husband is even thinking about taking one, and that say alot. My son still talks about how cool this day was. Thanks, Chris, for making a 15yr kid's day!
